American Building Inspection and Training Co., Inc. is a New York State approved Home Inspector Training school.  Our Home Inspector Training classes offer our students 100 hours of classroom training with knowledgeable and experienced instructors with hands-on equipment only available at our training center.  Our experienced instructors will teach you everything you need to know to conduct a quality Home Inspection using defensive home inspection techniques developed by the founders. Small class size insures good interaction between the students and the instructors. New York State and International Code books are used as part of the training program.

Cost

There is a non refundable $100  registration fee which must be paid in advance in order to insure your seat in the class.

The total cost for the 100 hours of classroom training is $3,395.00. This fee includes lunches, training manuals and appropriate handouts.

All required training manuals and appropriate handouts are included. 

Lunches and snacks are also provided.

If you want the best instruction, you have to go where the best instructors are teaching.  We have six experts in their field that teach the various courses.

If you want a training school that has the most "Hands-On" equipment you need to go to ABITCO's school.

Joe Mahr - Joe is a licensed Home Inspector with 23 years of experience as a residential and commercial building inspector.  He is also a former New York State Code Enforcement Officer and Veterans Administration Compliance Inspector.  He has inspected more than 8,000 homes and commercial buildings in New York.  Joe has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.  He is accepted as an expert witness in New York State Courts when testifying relative to building construction and systems.  Joe has been teaching Home Inspectors since 1995 traveling across the country.

Ed Doherty - Ed is a licensed Home Inspector with more than 15 years experience as a residential and commercial building inspector.  Ed is also the president of American Home Services; a company that installs and services heating, cooling and plumbing equipment as well as radon mitigation systems.  Ed has been teaching those subjects where he has vast experience and has been available for consultation long after the students have completed the training program.  Ed recently qualified as a Radon Measurement Specialist by NRSB.

David De Salvia - David is a licensed Home Inspector with more than 5 years experience as a Home Inspector.  David has a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University.  David has operated a roofing inspection and contracting business for more than 20 years.  David's vast experience has proven invaluable when training new home inspectors regarding the importance of safety and methods of inspecting roofs and flashings.  Dave is a member of the Roof Consultants Institute and New York State Building Officials Conference.

Russell Schell - Russ is a licensed Home Inspector with more than 23 years experience in building construction, inspection and code enforcement.  Russ is presently a Code Enforcement Officer for the city of Rochester.  In this capacity he does not conduct private inspections in Rochester to avoid any possible conflict of interest.  Russ teaches ventilation and insulation techniques at ABITCO.

Larry Kinne - Larry is a graduate of Cayuga Community College and Onondaga/Madison BOCES.  A retired police officer, Larry has worked as an electrician, and electrician's foreman and an electrical inspector.  Larry is presently a Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Senate.  He is also a qualified instructor for the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI).

Douglas Mahr - Doug is a New York State Attorney.  He is a graduate of SUNY Courtland and obtained his Jurist Doctorate in Law at Syracuse University where he graduated Cum Laude in 1990.  Doug's specialty is construction law.  He has defended a number of home inspectors in legal cases in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse.  His vast experience in law and dealings with home inspectors will prove beneficial to all who attend ABITCO's training.
